Bluewater is proud to be hosting the 86th Edition of the International Association for Safety and Survival Training (IASST) in Palma de Mallorca, Spain; welcoming maritime safety professionals, members, invited speakers and industry leaders.
This year’s IASST Seminar explores the “Anatomy of an Accident” through real case studies, analysing what happens in the lead-up to an incident, how events unfold, and what actions should be taken afterwards.
By examining real scenarios and decision-making processes, the seminar provides valuable insights to help improve safety, awareness, and prevention across the maritime industry.
IASST was founded 50 years ago and is an association of maritime organisations around the world that meet twice a year to share the latest research and best practice in firefighting, survival and medical training.
The keynote speaker is Dr Sobrina Cohen-Hatton, a renowned author and broadcaster and current Chief Fire Officer in the UK. Sabrina’s research has focused on decision making in high stress and safety critical situations.
Her presentation will focus on what to do when the worst happens and how preparation can change the outcome.
We are also honoured to welcome Professor Mike Tipton, a leading expert in cold water injuries and drowning; his lifelong research has been on what can be done to improve survival rates after abandonment. He will give us a digest of the latest research.
