The majority of Norway charter yachts cruise the area around Bergen, Stavanger, and Alesund on Norway’s southwest coast, with Hardangerfjord and Geirangerford often considered the most beautiful fjords in the world. Other spectacular fjords in this region include Sognefjord, Romsdalsfjorden, Nordfjord and Nærøyfjord. Further to the south lies the magnificent Lysefjord, home of Pulpit Rock, before cruising round to Oslo, which lies on the fjord of the same name.
Late June to August is certainly the peak time to cruise Norway. In mid summer, the Gulf Stream warms the coast of Norway, bringing temperatures into the low 20s (low 70’s F). While average sea temperatures in Norway generally hover in the mid-teens in summer, some fjords have temps of 20 degrees (68F) in midsummer, perfect for a refreshing dip.
