AEC 2 is a mandatory 1 week course for students enrolled in the new small vessel route to second engineer. It comprises of approximately 50% classroom theory work and 50% practical time. It covers refrigeration, legislation (books and records) maintenance systems and techniques, safe systems of work, lifting and slinging, electrical distribution, basic hydraulic systems, fresh water and sewage systems. An MCA approved AEC 1 course or an accepted equivalent is a pre-requisite. There is an internal written test at the end. This course is fully redeemable with your ONE Account vouchers.
Written examination externally marked on the final day. If failed, 2 resits allowed in the following 6 months. Certificates will only be issued to successful candidates once exams have been marked.
