We are launching five new courses on the 12th of July that aim to prepare crew for galley life. Courses range from a young chef's course for 15-18 year-olds, which runs over five days and aims to give future yacht chefs all the basics they need to become confident in the kitchen, to one day master classes on creative canapés or seafood.
Bluewater will also be providing a galley foundation course, run intensively over five days and designed to lay the foundation for basic yacht galley operation for small yacht chief stews and larger yacht crew cooks. Plus, a seasoned chef course which aims to smooth the transition from the kitchen to the galley. Predominantly theoretical, Bluewater hopes this course will prove invaluable for chefs moving to yachts for the first time.
Galley positions need some sort of prior knowledge in order to fulfill the guests' and crews' expectations. The courses are designed to assist all crew from inexperienced crew/stew cooks and service staff to culinary-trained, land-based chefs. We can also tailor one day packages based on specific types of cuisine including Italian, French, Asian, fusion and pastries, desserts, healthy food, bio and family meals.
Liz Maynard, former yacht chef and Bluewater instructor is excited to be involved with the new school. "We have been working on the project for some time now, seeing everything come into place is fantastic, I can't wait to get started."
