Bahamas & Caribbean - What Are The Rules?

What are the current quarantine rules for those wanting to head to the Bahamas or Caribbean?

12 October 2020

The BVI’s

Entry is restricted to:
- BVI Islanders
- belongers
- permanent residents
- work permit holders
- residing entry permit holders
- students of local schools
- government employees
- dependents of previous categories
- business travellers
- aviation and maritime crew members
- medical personnel
- emergency maintenance personnel.

All travellers are required to register online prior to travel.
This part of the bulletin has the most relevant information.

Until then, all arriving passengers will need to quarantine for 14 days in a pre-approved government facility where they will be monitored by security to ensure they remain quarantined until the two-week period has ended and they have tested negative.

BAHAMAS

All arriving travellers must submit a health form online prior to travel.
There will be a mandatory 14-day quarantine after arriving in the Bahamas.
Travellers can stay in a hotel, private club, rented accommodation or on a private boat as long as the accommodation provides an isolated room with an adjoining bathroom. Travellers will take a PCR test at the end of their quarantine time at their own cost.

All travellers, including citizens and residents, must submit a Health Visa Application prior to arrival, and must upload COVID-19 negative test results. The test must have been taken no more than five days prior to arrival. The only exemptions to this rule are children under the age of ten and pilots and crew members.

To answer your question succinctly; No you will not be allowed to travel to the Bahamas with an expired passport. However, I’ve read several industry and government bulletins recently that the agencies have completed a back-log of work and are now processing passports/renewals much quicker.
Regardless of whether you are definitely planning to go to the Bahamas or not, I would urge that you go online and ante up the $60.00USD to request an Expedited Passport Renewal.
Reason being any international location requires a minimum of 3 months validity in order to enter and some even require 6 months.
We can supply an example itinerary to submit with other documents, please contact us directly by email.

US Virgin Islands

All arrivals to the USVI’s (Saint Croix, Saint John, and Saint Thomas) must fill out a ’Health Declaration Form’ before entering the Territory.
The forms should be completed by travellers before exiting the baggage claim areas and dropped off at the VING stations at the exit doors.

Leisure travel is allowed from 19 September.
All travellers over the age of five who enter the U.S. Virgin Islands will be subject to a mandatory 14-day self-quarantine, from the time of entry into the territory or the duration of the person’s presence in the territory, whichever is shorter.

The requirement to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days may be reduced by the person obtaining a COVID-19 negative test result after arrival in the territory.

Travellers will be exempt from the quarantine mandate if they present a negative COVID-19 test obtained within five days of commencement of travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands.
This will be in effect until the state of emergency, declared on 13 March, ceases.
