Located in New Bern, North Caroline, Hatteras Yachts manufactures luxury production and semi-custom motor yachts and sportfishing yachts. For 60 years, Hatteras has been committed in delivering the ultimate experience on the water when founder Willis Slane, envisioned a new breed of fishing vessel and was the first production builder to manufacture a fiberglass yacht when wooden boat construction was still the norm. The shipyard has been producing superyachts up to 40m with their average vessels around the 28m mark.

The Yachts That Make Hatteras Great

Willis Slane and a group of investors set about revolutionizing the industry with a vessel strong enough to tame the waves off Cape Hatteras, an unforgiving sea where where two strong currents collide. Thus was born Knit Wits, a 41 foot fiberglass yacht whose jaunty flybridge led to the development of a series of production convertibles and pioneering the defiant convex and modified v hull for optimal performance. The beauty of sportfishing yachts being the ability to compete in fishing tournaments and equally carry owners in comfort on voyages offshore. In the process, grew innovation in every aspect of the business from propulsion and hull breakthroughs to on-board connectivity and interior design. No two Hatteras yachts are ever the same, the models which have made their mark are the GT70, the pinnacle of its category with outstanding performance and muscle; the GT 65 Carolina has numerous features and is crafted and tailored from helm to cockpit; the GT59 delivers the smoothest of rides under sixty feet, a reliable sea keeper with seasoned anglers in mind; the GT45X inspires confidence with power and agility which is rarely engineered in this category.

In 2013, Hatteras launched its flagship, Mr Loui, a 31m in the Raised Pilothouse series, she was designed in-house in collaboration with T4Design, accommodating eight guests in four staterooms.

The Yard
