This course forms one of the 3 modules required to obtain the MCA Small Vessel Second Engineer qualification. Prior to booking the course, please make sure that you are officially registered on to the SV programme.

It is 5 days with a written exam at the end. The following topics will be covered: legislation, watch keeping, maintenance, pollution, bunkering, sewage systems, air conditioning, freshwater makers, stabilizers, fire fighting and ship construction. The course is intensive and candidates are advised to be well prepared for the exam by obtaining the course notes early and studying them thoroughly.

Letter of registration on the SV programme or Y4 NoE or Y4/Y3 NoE *
Sufficient level of spoken and written English to understand the course content and to pass any verbal or written assessments. *
We strongly advise that you obtain your seafarer medical certificate before you undertake any training course as certain medical conditions might preclude you from working on a yacht.
