PADI Open Water Diver

COURSE OVERVIEW

The PADI Open Water Diver qualification is the world’s most recognised entry-level diver certification. It is an excellent qualification for deckhands and hostesses beginning a career in yachting, as many vessels consider it beneficial. Additionally, it allows for incredible underwater experiences during downtime in stunning diving locations.

Much of the theoretical preparation is completed via eLearning before the course, allowing you to maximise in-water learning. The course is taught by a highly experienced English-speaking PADI Course Director based in Antibes, who will provide ongoing coaching and support to help you get the most out of your training.

The course consists of three key components:

• Confined Water Training: Conducted over four half-day sessions, this section teaches essential diving skills in a controlled environment.
• Theory: Completed via eLearning, followed by a multiple-choice exam.
• Open Water Dives: Four half-day boat dives where you apply and refine your skills in real diving conditions.

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED

• Accommodation in the Antibes/Golfe Juan area during the course

• Highly recommended Specialty Add-On Package: This includes Nitrox, Surface Marker Buoy, and Peak Performance Buoyancy specialties, which help start the journey toward Advanced Open Water certificationwhile enhancing safety, knowledge, and confidence as a diver.

ASSESSMENT

• Demonstration of in-water mastery of required skills
• Multiple-choice written exam via the eLearning platform

Upon successful completion, you will receive the PADI Open Water Diver certification, a lifetime qualification (assuming continued medical fitness to dive). If you do not dive for several months, a refresher course is highly recommended to maintain skills and confidence.
