Together We Jet Off To The Monaco Yacht Show

With the Monaco Yacht Show 2019 just around the corner, Bluewater has spoken to PrivateFly’s Carol Cork about the enduring appeal of the Côte d’Azur for private jet travellers.

09 September 2019
Bluewater’s luxury partner PrivateFly works with yacht charterers and owners to arrange seamless air travel – both to and from their sailing destinations and also to sailing industry events. And of course, there is no more prestigious an event in the European calendar than the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS).

MYS is an opportunity for the top yacht brokers and shipyards to showcase the latest trends to the people that matter. And its location in Monaco is a major part of that appeal.

Monaco and the nearby Côte d’Azur are a magnet for luxury travellers from all over the world in the summer months. Not only for the spectacular sailing along the coast, but also for the timeless VIP glamour of the area.

There is no shortage of stunning spots to moor up or stay. From vibrant Nice, to the exclusive hotspots of Cap Ferrat and St Tropez. When it comes to where to land, private jet travellers have a choice of airports and helipads in the area.

Private jet airports in the Côte d’Azur

Nice Côte d’Azur becomes the busiest private jet airport in Europe while the sun shines, overtaking year-round favourites Paris Le Bourget and London’s Luton and Farnborough in the summer months. In fact, the pairing of London or Paris with Nice are PrivateFly’s most popular European routes between May and September.

Open 24-hours and able to accommodate the biggest long-range private jets and converted VIP airliners, Nice is the number one airport choice for private jet travellers arriving in the region.

But there are other smaller airports along the coast, with Cannes Mandelieu Airport second to Nice. As a dedicated private jet airport, it’s popular as a discreet alternative to Nice for VIPs and high-profile figures.
St Tropez La Mole is the closest airport to St Tropez but travellers from the UK or other countries outside the EU Schengen area cannot land there, as it has no passport control. So we would recommend Toulon- Hyères as a nearby alternative.

Another useful option is Riviera Airport a small private airport just across the border in Italy (also known as Albenga Airport). It can accommodate light jets, turboprops and helicopters and is well-situated for travellers to Monaco or other destinations close to the border.

Monaco Heliport is the main helicopter landing site in the area and will be very busy indeed throughout MYS.

Private jet & helicopter charter to Monaco & the Côte d’Azur

PrivateFly are offering exclusive pricing between London and Nice Côte d’Azur during MYS. Our City Pairs discounted pricing on the 6-seater Nextant 400XTi or the 13-seater Legacy 600 are best-in-market prices, which are guaranteed to stay that way, even at peak times. Prices are available on request for Cannes and other Côte D’Azur airports.

PrivateFly can also arrange helicopter charter to Monaco, from Côte d’Azur airports or other locations. Availability is limited during MYS, especially for helicopters, so we would advise clients to book ahead if possible.

London – Nice Côte d’Azur
Charter price: from €7,000 (one-way)
Aircraft Type: Nextant 400XTi
Seats: 6

London – Nice Côte d’Azur
Charter price: from €19,000 (one-way)
Aircraft Type: Legacy 600
Seats: 13

A private helicopter charter to Monaco starts from €750 for Nice to Monaco or from €890 for Cannes to Monaco, one-way in a 5-seater helicopter.
