Simplifying Hours Of Rest Compliance For Charter Yachts

Are you and your crew getting enough hours of rest? Lack of sleep and extreme exhaustion are dangerous especially out at sea. Being semi-conscious is when accidents happen and safety is compromised for the crew and the guests.

A recent STCW inspection study conducted by leading port state control members concluded that “records of seafarers' daily hours of work or rest, accounted for the most reported inspection deficiency”. The hours of rest records accounted for an incredible 67% of all deficiencies found on 8182 port state control inspections.

With the need for charter yachts to now be compliant with the Maritime Labour Convention's minimum hours of work and rest, GoSea has created an easy to use solution called Workrest allowing captains and crew to gain more insight into their current working conditions and demonstration of compliance. Currently, crew are logging over 10,000 hours each day via their software.

Workrest makes it incredibly easy to demonstrate real-time compliance

The solution is made up of two parts;

1. An app for crew to log hours in seconds, online, offline and on any device.
2. A Vessel Dashboard for Captains and Heads of Departments to monitor compliance, digitally sign off and export monthly time sheets.
Vessel Dashboard
With over 16,000 real-world hours logged during a two-year testing period, workrest has been designed to be the easiest way for all crew to accurately log their hours of rest, whilst providing the most in depth analysis of compliance for captains and heads of departments.

Over 200 calculations are performed each second via workrest’s specially designed algorithm to generate the most accurate demonstration of compliance to MLC, STCW and US OPA legislation.
The solution helps captains and crew to:
• Stay up-to-date on compliance. Compliance notifications instantly advise captains when non compliant hours have been entered, including the exact timeframe for when it occurred.
• Gain a real-time perspective. Captains and heads of departments use their Vessel Dashboard to get instant insight into each crew member's hours for the last day, week, month.
• Go paperless. Allowing users to sign off their entries on their device, enables workrest to generate a fully paperless, IMO / ILO compliant timesheet that can be downloaded, emailed or stored in the cloud (timesheets are ready to print pdf’s).

Workrest is available to download across all devices now from the app store, android store or online at their website.
