If you book a Bluewater Training course the personal information collected is extended to further personal details, such as: gender, place of birth, nationality, professional qualifications, next of kin contact details, passport number and/or Seaman’s Discharge Book. The details we collect may include the name of the vessel that employs you. For students attending a course that has a practical component will be required to complete a Health Declaration that we will keep in your personal record. If you are aged 16 or under please get your parent/guardian’s permission beforehand whenever you provide us with personal information. • Information that we collect from you (Cookies) A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. However, when we use third party service providers, we disclose only the personal information that is necessary to deliver the service and we have a contract in place that requires them to keep your information secure and not to use it for their own direct marketing purposes. Please be advised that we will not release your information to third parties for them to use for their own direct marketing purposes, unless you have authorised us to do so. • Government authorities or administrations Bluewater Training will share your personal data when submitting an application for a written engineering or deck examination with the SQA and IAMI. Bluewater Training is required to maintain records of STCW endorsed certificates issued until the 70th birthday of the certificate holder or five years from the date of issue whichever is the longer. However, we will maintain records of courses that you have attended for a duration of 30 years from the date of your booking. How you can control the personal information we hold? You may choose to update or restrict the collection or use of your personal information as follows: • You may request details of personal information which we hold about you.
