Monaco Yacht Show 2015

Monaco is without a doubt one of the most glamorous places in the world, so what better place to showcase the beautiful mega yachts than in the deep waters of Port Hercules.

07 September 2015
Monaco has a rich and colourful history including Julius Caesar’s visit in the 1st century, an invasion of barbarians between the 6th and 10th century, kings and untold riches, battles and, of course, an iconic movie star, with Grace Kelly going from Hollywood royalty to actual royalty when she married the late Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956.
Monaco was once used as a trading port for the Greeks and Romans and there are myths aplenty including the construction of Monaco’s port by the Roman God Hercules, whom the port is named after. Whatever the stories, myths and icons that have been linked to Monaco, this exclusive principality has so much to offer and it’s impossible not to be impressed by its beauty, scenery, architecture and glamour.

The Monaco Yacht Show

The modern port as we know it was completed in 1926 and underwent major improvement works in the 1970s, now providing anchorage for up to 700 vessels - an impressive sight to see! Among the 115 superyachts present at the show in 2014, nearly half of them were built less than two years ago, and 38 had been delivered that year.
M/Y Nassima - 49m Acico Yachts
The Monaco Yacht Show brings together captains, crew, brokers and suppliers from around the globe. Bluewater will be present throughout the show and look forward to welcoming you onboard M/Y NASSIMA, an impressive 49m luxury yacht with quirky features including an aquarium on the main deck.

Where to eat and what to see

Of course, during your stay in Monaco, and in between yacht hopping, we would like to recommend some of the must-see places to enjoy gastronomic delights, 5-star service and delicious cocktails.
Stars’n’Bars
For the sports fans be sure to stop by Stars’n’Bars which is a popular American-themed sports bar on the port. They will be showing the Rugby World Cup during the Monaco Yacht Show so don’t miss the France game on Wednesday 23rd September or the All Blacks’ second game of the tournament the following day. The restaurant has hosted a multitude of film, music and sports legends and boasts one of the best celebrity sports museums in the world. They are family friendly too and have a kids menu as well as a supervised children’s playroom.

Also on the port you will find La Rascasse, a hip bar popular with the locals for an after-work drink.

Nikki Beach - Fairmont Hotel
When you are ready to dine, make sure you have your table booked at Nobu so as not to be disappointed; located in the luxurious Fairmont Hotel, this legendary restaurant gives a vantage point of France, Monaco and Italy for you to enjoy whilst savouring the delicious creations from Chef Nobuyuki "Nobu" Matsuhisa. Also at the Fairmont Hotel is the famous Nikki Beach, located on the 7th floor where they welcome celebrities, VIPs and true yacht lovers for lunch, dinner and then dancing, with their world renowned resident DJs getting the party started.
Louis XV - Hotel de Paris
For a memorable dining experience, book a table at Le Louis XV, an Alain Ducasse restaurant in the Hotel de Paris. The menu is mouth-watering, modern and authentic. Just by this restaurant is the most famous and also the oldest establishment in Monaco, Café de Paris, ready to welcome you for a lunch time treat. Originally opened in 1968 as Café Divan and featuring a bowling alley, it has benefitted from a few makeovers over the years before finally becoming the venue as we know it today.
Casino
Also in this famous square you’ll find the Casino for those feeling lucky! This iconic building has been featured in many James Bond movies and dates back to 1863. However, the original idea for this establishment was created in 1856 by Prince Florestan at a time when there were no roads to Monaco. Access was by boat or by the mule path only. Charles III invested heavily in the area, creating hotels and infrastructure, with no expense spared, and the Casino was opened on New Year’s Day 1865 with great fanfare. Take a trip back through time and admire the beautiful detailed architecture whilst enjoying a flutter.

Eze village
Of course there are many other little towns to visit surrounding Monaco; such as Menton, nicknamed La Perle de la France, or the historical town of Eze, and why not explore the exclusive Cap Ferrat with its magnificent villas and stunning scenery. Without forgetting Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, founded in the 1st century by the Count of Ventimiglia. Then called Roccabruna, it comprises several villages and even has its own dialect still spoken by a few of the locals.
Please do not hesitate to contact the bluewater team for any further information on the Monaco Yacht Show or luxury charters around Monaco and the French & Italian Rivieras.
