Captain Todd Burgman holds the very select USCG license as Master of Steam, Motor and SAIL– Any Gross Tons upon Oceans, as well as an MCA unlimited master’s license. His diverse, 25-year sailing career includes worldwide experience aboard super yachts, sail training vessels, expedition cruise ships, luxury cruise ships, research ships and cargo vessels. He sailed several years as captain of the legendary 110m, 4-mast square-rigged sailing yacht Sea Cloud, and he currently sails six months a year as master for Royal Caribbean/TUI Cruises.

During his six months per year of ‘vacation’, Todd sails as a yacht delivery and relief captain and teaches at various maritime training institutions. He has taught a variety of courses, such as advanced ship handling, stability, celestial navigation, GMDSS, meteorology, ECDIS, Master seamanship, advanced sea survival, advanced watchkeeping and bridge resource management. His additional credentials include an MBA in Finance, a FCC GMDSS Operator and Maintainer license, and a Marine Auditor certificate. Todd hails from the great maritime state of Nebraska.
