I have lived in various countries, including UK, Portugal and Bulgaria. I have always been entranced by the sea. In fact, my mother once reported that I first "looked up" at the sight of the ocean. Since I was a child I've been happy gazing out at its boundless expanse.

I once went fishing for sharks off Vilamoura Marina in the Algarve and can proudly announce that I was the only one who was not sick. On the other hand, I can also report that I was the only person who did not catch a fish.

My wife is Bulgarian and one of our happiest memories was a trip we undertook to the South of France, enjoying the rose-tinted light in beautiful places like Eze and Saint Paul de Vence. I have written a book, a biography of an
old British actor called Ian Hendry. If I could write my next book from the Cote d'Azur, I'd be a happy man.
