Broward Yachts was founded in 1948 and originally known as Broward Marine. They began by building wooden boats that were of the highest quality and value. The Yachts That Make Broward Marine Great

The first custom yacht launched in 1953 was “Stormy III”, John Wells, a noted naval architect of the era was responsible for her design. “Johnathan III” arrived five years later, a luxury yacht for Harry Blum, the owner of Jim Beam Distilleries. A notable Broward superyacht was the 38m “Coco Loco” which was launched in 2007 and is today called “Viva Mas”. She is one of two Broward 120 models featuring a contemporary exterior styling and interior design by the renowned Evan K. Marshall who has maintained a good relationship with Broward Shipyard.

The Yard

Broward is a custom yacht builder that has developed hull designs over the years which have become known and respected for being seaworthy and sea kindly, efficient and esthetically pleasing to the eye. Each Broward Yacht being unique, their reputation for quality has endured for over 70 years and their catchy slogan, “Demand the finest,” has given them the reputation of quality and value yachts resulting in the launch of over 300 yachts.

In 1948, whilst visiting the Fort Lauderdale area on his honeymoon, Michigan boat technician Frank Denison purchased Dodey’s Dry Dock. At this time, he renamed the shipyard Broward Marine and launched a service and repair business at the facility.

Broward triumphantly built minesweeper vessels during the Korean War years but by the latter part of the 20th century their primary focus adjusted back to the custom luxury yacht.

In 2009, the shipyard changed hands and Chris and Bruce Moore took ownership, incorporating the newly named Broward Shipyard Inc. The new company focus in the construction of 18 to 50m custom luxury yachts.
