A fun afternoon

Bluewater worked with Chateau Clarettes to deliver a wine workshop and masterclass for Chief Stewardesses.
Hosted at Onshore Cellars' beautiful store in the heart of Antibes, we enjoyed an educational and fun afternoon, over a glass or two of wine!

Chateau Clarettes is a stunning venue in Les Arc sur Argens in Provence, in picturesque grounds, they have been making their own wines since the 1950's.
Producing around 75,000 bottles every year of red, white and rosé, they have recently heavily invested in developing the vineyard along with a completely new wine producing facility.

Protecting the environment:
Meticulous soil preparation, together with plant protection are aiding them to develop and improve the cultivation of wines in ways that are environmentally friendly. For example, the year starts by having hundreds of sheep eat the grass off the fields instead of using herbicides and other toxic chemicals!

Harvesting is performed exclusively from 4 am to 8 am to preserve flavours and to limit the grape juice oxidation, which is one of the requirements for the wines to develop at their best and achieve the highest possible quality.

The team of stewardesses enjoyed a selection of their wines and were educated by Eric Guilleré, the Chateau's very own wine maker, as well as Onshore Cellars' professional Sommelier, Rosie Clarkson.

Which Glass? Which Wine? Does it matter...

Riedel Crystal Glassware presented an interesting wine masterclass on the importance of which wines should be served in which glasses, and why it makes a difference.

Philippe Guillon, the Managing Director of Riedel France, set us various tasks using their beautiful tasting set, and gave an informative talk on the importance the right glassware plays in wine tasting.

The team at bluewater had no idea it was such a serious subject! We all certainly learned a thing or two, and whilst sharing a glass of wine with our lovely stews, what better way to spend an afternoon!

Cheese anyone?

After all that wine, it was only fitting that we finish the afternoon with a delicious cheese and charcuterie platter, prepared by the owner of Onshore Cellars, Jessica Evans.

Jessica and her husband Ed are ex-crew and started Onshore Cellars a year ago, they understand the importance of provisioning for your yacht owner and charter guests, they have an incredible storage space within their store.
We could barely contain our excitement at wandering round and spotting some pretty fabulous wines and champagnes! We will be heading back with suspiciously large handbags next time....

Upcoming Events:
Jessica, Ed and Rosie are all very welcoming and invite you down any time to see their facilities, discuss your provisioning needs, hear about their sale or return policy, and why not join them for one of their fun wine tasting evenings.
