Syracuse is reputedly one of the most beautiful towns on the mainland. Located on the south east coast of Sicily, it is famous for its large number of amphitheatres and was the capital city for the Government during the Roman Era. The Archaeological museum holds large collections of artefacts from the Bronze Age, and Roman Era, and is one of the best in Italy.
