Most large yachts carry ’personal water-craft’ (jet skis and wave riders) and many captains and managers are very concerned about their safety and the legal consequences of an accident. All maritime administrations in the Mediterranean require jet ski operators to have a certificate.
Many yachts have themselves certified as RYA schools to legitimise Jet Ski operation. The official governing body for recreational boating in the UK, the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), has created clear and exacting standards for the operation of personal watercraft. One of the key requirements of these rules is the employment on the yacht of a qualified PWC instructor.
There is considerable demand for crew with this important certificate. Having this qualification will considerably enhance your chances of employment on large yachts.
